Container Patio Fruit Trees

Container Patio Fruit Trees

Just got some new Patio Citrus Trees from Home Depot
Growing Your Herbs and Fruit and maybe attracting some butterflies!

We just picked up some plants during a Home Depot run. Looking for flowers for the yard with a new stone path... I notice some Patio Citrus Trees in Bright colored pots. Oh had to have all 3. One is a Lime Tree, one is Lemon and an orange Calamondin or the other lime its called.
These came in the cutest colored pots. So I had to have them HAD TO! They were $39 each including the Pots they came in.

Ok I did not know what a Calamondin was so here is some info from Wikipedia....

Calamondin or Calamansi, is a fruit tree in the family Rutaceae, commonly called as calamondin, golden lime, panama orange, chinese orange, acid orange, calamonding, or calamandarin in the English language.[1] It is believed to originate from China and has spread throughout Southeast Asia, India, Hawaii, West Indies, Central and North America.[2] The plant is characterized by wing-like appendages on the leaf stalks and white or purplish flowers. Its fruit has either a spongy or leathery rind with a juicy pulp that is divided into sections.

The fruit is indigenous and widely cultivated in the Philippines (Tagalog: calamansi or kalamansî (kɐlɐmɐnˈsɪʔ); Visayan: limonsito orsimuyaw ), Calamansi is available year round in the Philippines and is usually seen in its unripened state as a dark green fruit, but if left to ripen it turns a tangerine orange color. In its unripened state it is extensively used not just in Philippine cuisine, but also for household and medicinal use like as a hair conditioner, body deodorant, ink stain remover on fabrics, for treating insect bites, for curing skin problems like acne, as a cough remedy.

It smells like a tangerine to me and has a bitter lime taste. And now I learn it is a pretty useful Fruit hmmmmm.

Also picked up a variety of Butterfly plants for the yard. Trying to encourage bee activity in the yard for the different fruits and vegetables.

Growing Your Herbs

Growing Your Herbs
Starting a Herb Garden can be done using Containers like I have done here. Basil, Oregano Rosemary and various Mint varieties to begin with. Chocolate mint got me started. How could you go wrong with anything chocolate?

My new herbs were planted in clay pots I already had.

These have done so well I had to add 3 new containers to expand my growing options. Ok I am now addicted to herbs and keep bringing more plants home so I needed more pots. The mint is wonderful in Tea or Coffee. Try putting a few leaves in a fresh salad. YUMYUM! Now you all know what to do with a great basil leaf. Adds a punch to most anything.
